Variety is reporting that Gotham alum Erin Richards has joined ABC vampire soap The Brides.
From Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale), with Greg Berlanti executive producing, The Brides is described as a contemporary reimagining of Dracula (Goran Visnjic) that focuses on the relationship between his three immortal wives and the lengths these women will go to maintain their wealth, prestige, and legacy. Per THR, the pilot features Dracula being left for dead at his destroyed castle in the Carpathian mountains while his trio of beloveds set about forging new lives together.
Richards will play middle wife Renée Pélagie, the head of a modeling agency in New York. In her mortal life, she was the wife of the Marquis de Sade before asking Dracula to turn her.
The Brides is one of several dramas in contention at ABC for next season, joining thirtysomething sequel thirtysomething(else); family restaurant saga Harlem’s Kitchen; plane crash tale Wreckage; and legal drama Rebel, which stars Katey Sagal as an Erin Brockovitch-like figure. The network has a straight-to-series order in David E. Kelley PI drama The Big Sky, as well as decade-hopping medical drama Triage in development as a “second cycle” pilot.
In addition to her role on the FOX comic drama, Richards has appeared on the likes of Breaking In, Being Human, and Merlin.
