What would you do if you could get tomorrow’s Google alerts… today?

Okay, that’s not quite what CBS has in mind for an Early Edition reboot from writer Melissa Glenn (Beauty and the Beast, Zoo) and original show producers DeVon Franklin and Bob Brush, but it is apparently a thing that is happening, as CBS has ordered a pilot.

This gender-bent revival focuses on “an ambitious but uncompromising journalist who starts receiving tomorrow’s newspaper today and finds herself in the complicated business of changing the news instead of reporting it.” The original series, of course, starred Kyle Chandler as everyman Gary Hobson. If you haven’t seen it, you should; it’s quite good, especially in that first year. (It would be great if we could find out whatever happened to Gary in this new show, if it should go to series.)

Early Edition is in contention for a spot on the 2022-2023 CBS schedule. CBS already has some high-profile reboots in its lineup like The Equalizer, SWAT, and Magnum P.I., and this could be another.
