man with a plan cbsMIDSEASON MUSINGS

SHILO: If renewed, I think we see Man with a Plan midseason, either replacing a comedy flop or checking in once CBS shuffles its Monday lineup upon Murphy completing its 13-episode order. In addition to the show’s reality stalwarts, all of whom are set to return for next year, midseason will also see at least 1-2 new dramas and 1-2 new comedies. As with every network, buzz isn’t 100% clear given the lateness of this year’s pilot season, but positive things seem to be in the air for Dick Wolf drama FBI (which I have mentally penciled in as CBS’s Super Bowl show), off-brand God Friended Me (Kevin (Probably) Saves the World but with more Facebook and religious proselytizing), a comedy that sounds like You, Me and Dupree but with a pop star, and Fam, a family comedy starring Nina Dobrev. CBS also has Murder, a new-ish take on the crime procedural, that could get an order if they’re feeling adventurous.

CRAIG: I didn’t have room for Life in Pieces in my schedule, though I think it’d be a good show to renew and place anywhere if needed. There’s talk Instinct might not be a goner, so maybe there’s a place for that too. Really, there are a number of pilots from CBS that sound that they’d be great fits, but it’s all a matter of what CBS needs and on what night. I assume they’ll end up picking the projects that sound best and making final decisions at a time to be determined later.
