Executive Producer James Wan (Aquaman) is promising a lot of good things for the upcoming adaptation of Swamp Thing for the “DC Universe” streaming platform.

“Been developing this ‘vegetarian hero’ for awhile now,” Wan Tweeted yesterday. “With a great team. Happy to finally share. Expect — mood, mystery, gothic romance, and swamp monsters!”
When the writer and director, who is best known for scary movies including Saw and The Conjuring, was asked about signature horror elements, he promised “more horror than anything.”
The project was announced yesterday and is eyeing a 2019 launch.
Here’s the official tag line for Swamp Thing:
When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
