Most Surprising (Possible) Renewal: At this point Whiskey Cavalier would kind of surprise me. ABC seems high on it, but it’s not owned by them, and ratings haven’t been too great.
Show That Likely Won’t Be Renewed But Should Be: The Kids are Alright is an okay performer, and it’s not on my schedule, but I can see reasons to keep it, for sure.
Possible Scheduling Disaster: It’s ABC. So many nights have potential disasters. I’m going with Sunday nights in the Fall though, until Idol returns, unless they decided to do a Fall cycle.
Possible Biggest Surprise: Neither of us had “Roseanne Tweets something racist and gets her show cancelled” last year, so we fail at this. I’d be surprised if ABC decided to just go to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 in the Fall. Yeah. I’ll put my cards on that.
Another big surprise w0uld be if ABC orders both NYPD Blue and the New York Undercover update.
Safest Bet: Grey’s Anatomy stays on Thursdays at 8.
Project I’m Rooting For: Stumptown/Bad Alibi for sure, because I’ve always liked Cobie Smulders. But also, even though there have been dozens of shows like it and LOST, Triangle could be fun. I’m also really curious to see the NYPD Blue update.
The One That Will [Probably] Get Away: Going with Stumptown here too. I can see where there might not be room.
What ABC Needs: A good Marvel show to replace S.H.I.E.L.D. when it’s done! Really, it’s absurd that there’s not such a thing. Beyond that, I think ABC needs to find the next generation of anchor shows. Modern Family is ending and series like Grey’s Anatomy and The Goldbergs have been around for a while; they’re not going to be on forever.
