Deadline is reporting that William Miller has become the first series regular on The CW’s upcoming fantasy-themed drama Searchers. He’ll be playing swashbuckling ship captain Bosch, a mysterious old soul who can’t shake the past experiences still weighing on his psyche.
Created by Jason Rothenberg (The 100), Searchers follows a pragmatic brother and free-spirited sister ten years following the death of their mother. The two are sent on a journey neither could’ve expected when they’re faced with the knowledge that the terrifying tales their mother told them may be a road map to discovering the great legends, myths, and unexplainable mysteries of the world.
Should Searchers be picked up to series, this would mark Miller’s first regular venture into American television, as he’s primarily done Spanish series like La que se avecina, Cuéntame, and Isabel. His lone American credit is a 2014 episode of TNT procedural Perception.
Searchers is one of six pilots The CW has in contention for 2017-18, joining the Dynasty reboot, military drama Valor, cancer dramedy Life Sentence, beauty pageant drama Insatiable, and DC-verse entrant Black Lightning. While casting decisions on all six pilots should be coming in the next few weeks, decisions on what will get the series orders should come down this May.
