Deadline is reporting that From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series alum Zane Holtz has signed on to star in The CW’s fantasy pilot Searchers. He’ll be playing brilliant tech innovator Cooper, a man who is dragged on a dangerous mission by his inquisitive younger sister in hope of finding the answers that elude them.

From Jason Rothenberg (The 100), Searchers follows Cooper and free-spirited Fable, two siblings who lost their parents 10 years ago. While Cooper has accepted the loss of his parents and tried to move on as best he can, Fable  has had a more difficult time and finds her restlessness over the death of her parents rewarded when she learns that their mother’s terrifying and bizarre stories might be a road map to discovering the great legends, myths, and unexplainable mysteries of the world. Now she and Cooper must use their mother’s stories to find the closure over the loss of their parents that each of them need.

In addition to his role on the El Rey drama, Holtz has appeared on the likes of Make It or Break It, NCIS, and Workaholics. He’s the second person to be cast in Searchers, joining William Miller (La que se avecina) who was recently added to the project.

Searchers is one of six CW pilots currently in contention for the 2017-18 schedule, joining soapy reboot Dynasty, cancer dramedy Life Sentence, beauty pageant drama Insatiable, DC-verse entrant Black Lightning, and military drama Valor. Casting for every series should continue over the next few weeks before, with the network deciding on which projects get a series order in early May.
