orville foxMIDSEASON MUSINGS

SHILO: In terms of new shows, I think FOX could very well pick up one more drama and one more comedy before calling it a day. Buzz is currently pointing toward genre drama The Passage, which was in development last season before being retooled, and one comedy from multi-cam Rel and single cam Daddy Issues. I think LA to Vegas and The Mick will sub in on Tuesdays after The Gifted wraps its run, while Lucifer, The Orville, The Four, and The Resident will all pop up midseason. The last I suspect will help bridge Mondays since 9-1-1 will be airing a split season. If The Four moves back to Wednesdays in-season to bridge Empire and Star, Thursdays will be The Orville and a shortened Lucifer season (assuming the latter is A) renewed and B) not sent to Fridays).

CRAIG: I am assuming that if Gotham gets renewed by FOX it will probably premiere at midseason for a big last hurrah to get them to 100 episodes. If FOX declines to renew entirely, there’s always the DC Comics streaming service which will also be home to Metropolis from the same producers. The Resident will probably continue its residency at midseason, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a big FOX project/revival we haven’t heard of yet, since they keep surprising us with those things.

“As far as midseason, I think they either put out a third season of music competition The Four, which moved to Thursday this summer following a successful midseason run on Wednesdays, or return to a two drama lineup.”
The Four run on Thursdays for its first season too. The X-Files and 9-1-1 were on Wednesdays this winter on FOX.
