The third season of MTV’s Teen Wolf begins tonight at 10PM on MTV, and hopefully you’ve seen the Season 3 promo shots by now… but before things begin, how about some words with series lead Tyler Posey, who we caught up with at this year’s Wondercon convention in Anaheim? For starters, what does he think of the series giving us 24 episodes rather than the usual 12 this year?

Posey admitted that he had “mixed feelings” on how a double-length season would turn out, at first. “We’ve done so well with just 12 episodes,” he admitted. “We can definitely do that, and 24 episodes in a year is a lot to shoot. A lot for the writers to think of and write. Which, for me, thinks maybe the quality of the show can go down, but it’s not that way at all,” he assured. “It’s definitely not.  It’s getting better and better with every single script.  I was a little worried about it.  It’s a lot of work and we’re not even close to halfway done. It’s a lot of work, but bring it on.”

Season 3 will have some good interactions with familiar characters and moments that Posey himself can’t wait to see, and some new faces are also entering the picture. Has anyone particularly stood out? “I really enjoy the twins [Max and Charlie Carver],” Posey said.  “They’re funny dudes and they fit right in in our cast. They’re goofy dudes.  We hang out all the time outside of work, we learned to ride motorcycles together… we just have so much fun.  Acting, they’re funny to be with and funny to watch, and awesome to watch. But every one of the new cast members is so cool to be with and work.  They’re also unique and fun and just perfect.  They fit show perfectly. So it’s going to be a good season.  It’s going to be awesome; I can’t wait for you guys to see it,” he said.

Another character that we should be seeing more of is Scott’s mother, Melissa McCall, played by Melissa Ponzio. “She’s already a bigger character this season,” Tyler revealed. “She’s so good, I love Melissa. I lovedworking with Melissa.  She’s so much fun to work with, and she’s funny, great, and intense. It’s awesome.  More Melissa please,” he enthused. Posey also talked about how the dynamic between mother and son has changed following the revelation of his wolfy alter ego in Season 2.

“The first time it was revealed, more than halfway through the second season, we didn’t know how it was going to go down.  She was freaked out at first.  Scott was heartbroken, and couldn’t face her, but it ultimately made their relationship better. They’re closer.  Scott didn’t have to hide anything from her anymore. That was the thing that kind of tore them apart the most.  He was so secretive and weird all the time, and it was freaking her out.  So now that she knows, and he doesn’t have to hide anything and she can even help them, it’s brought them closer together. So, their relationship is great this season.  It’s more than a mother and son relationship.  They’re like friends now, and allies.  It’s really fun. It’s really fun to have scenes with her, and we have good chemistry, and it’s going to be cool to see her character grow with the information that she knows,” Posey said.
