D.B. Woodside (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 24, Suits) plays the angel Amenadiel on the new FOX television series Lucifer, and with a new episode airing tonight, now seemed as good of a time as any to share our interview with the actor at the Lucifer studio location in Vancouver.

“What’s interesting is that Amenadiel doesn’t really discover that Lucifer has hooked up with her until midseason,” Woodside explains, “so I think the first half of the season is him just trying to figure out how to persuade Lucifer to go back to Hell.”
Woodside also gave us some clues as to what is going on down under — clues that might involve some spoilers. “It’s revealed that Amenadiel, the good brother, has in fact been sent down there to kind oversee it and so you can just imagine that this is not something that he’s comfortable with, not something that he feels like he should be doing, so I think that there’s a lot of resentment and anger that’s building up quick,” he explains.
Could Amenadiel team up with Maze to make sure Lucifer comes along in returning to Hell?
“What I’ve always said is that Amenadiel wants Lucifer to return to hell and Maise wants Lucifer to return to Hell, so they both want the same thing, just for different reasons. So there might be this unlikely alliance between the two of them, even though they don’t particularly like each other at all, you know? But they want the same thing,” he says.
Lucifer airs “Lucifer, Stay. Good Devil.” TONIGHT at 9PM on FOX. You can see some preview images here and if you’d like to talk about Lucifer with other fans, come by our forum for the show!
