Jeremy Irvine has confirmed his role of Green Lantern Alan Scott in the HBO Max Green Lantern series which is due to start filming later this year. A 30-year-old English stage and screen actor, his previous credits include Treadstone.

“Very excited to be joining the DC Universe!! Can’t wait to get started,” he shared on Instagram. The actor had been rumored for the part for several days, but now it is finally confirmed.

Keeping in line with more recent takes on the Alan Scott character, this Green Lantern is a “secretly gay FBI agent in the 1940s.”

Comics’ first Green Lantern Alan Scott first appeared in All-American Comics #16 where he was created by Martin Nodell. This take was two decades before Hal Jordan, arguably the most well-known Green Lantern character, came to comics.
