With the surprising renewal of holiday event series The Moodys yesterday, a show that your good friends at KSiteTV just assumed was quietly cancelled given its poor ratings, limited structure, and the fact that it’s been seven months since the season finale, broadcast networks have officially made renewal decisions on every scripted show that aired during the 2019-20 season. The global coronavirus pandemic ensured that the tail end of the 2019-20 season would be unlike anything broadcast has faced before, exerting its influence by shutting down pilot season, shortening the episode orders of a number of shows, and throwing into question when, where, how, and if the 2020-21 season can get off the ground. It’s a strange time for the television industry and the unusual circumstances we’re all living under certainly impacted the renewal and cancellation decisions made over the past few months.
To help make sense of a television industry that remains in flux, we here at KSiteTV have gathered every broadcast renewal and cancellation into one handy place. Though it’s as yet unclear when a majority of these renewals will be able to resume production, below you’ll find the renewals and cancellations of every broadcast scripted show, all separated by network and action, e.g. ABC renewals in one category, ABC cancellations / endings in the next, CBS renewals after that, etc. Included in the cancellation category are shows that were able to conclude on their own terms and/or had a pre-announced final season. Linked are the stories we’ve written about every renewal decision, though some server issues earlier this year assured that any list like this would be incomplete.
