Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the 12-episode second season of cult favorite Wynonna Earp will premiere Friday, June 9th at 10:00 on Syfy. The show’s return will come 13 months after the series premiere in April 2016.

Based on the comic series by Beau Smith and adapted for television by Emily Andras (Lost Girl), Wynonna Earp tells the story of the title character (Melanie Scrofano), the great-great-granddaughter of famed Old West figure Wyatt Earp. Blessed (and some say cursed) with the responsibility of carrying on her ancestor’s charge of killing demons with trusty gun Peacemaker, Wynonna must protect sister Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) while working to rid the town she calls home from a series of ghoulish and supernatural threats.

In addition to Scrofano and Provost-Chalkley, Wynonna Earp stars Shamier Anderson (The Next Step), Tim Rozon (Schitt’s Creek), and Katherine Barrell (The Scarehouse).

Wynonna Earp joins a summer drama slate on Syfy that includes 12 Monkeys, whose third season will be played out across three days, as well as fellow Canadian productions Dark Matter and Killjoys. The remaining dramas on Syfy’s current roster are Z Nation, Van Helsing, Channel Zero, The Magicians, and The Expanse.
