Deadline is reporting that Guerilla star Freida Pinto has joined the upcoming third season of Hulu drama The Path. She’ll be playing Vera, the new publicist for the Meyerist movement who makes a personal connection with Eddie. However, what he doesn’t know is that Vera has her own reasoning for joining the movement.
From Jessica Goldberg (Parenthood), The Path follows Meyerism, a controversial religious movement which combines everything from Scientology to shamanism, New Age philosophy, and Utopianism. In addition to chronicling the financial difficulties that put some of its prominent figures in uncomfortable positions, the second season focused on the unstable leadership at the top of the movement and how Meyerism as a whole suffered from a crisis of faith following the death of its founder.
Pinto’s lone prior television credit was the recently concluded Showtime limited series, where she played a woman who helped liberate a political prisoner and form an underground radical cell in 1970’s London. Her film credits include Slumdog Millionaire, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Immortals.
The third season of The Path began production earlier this week, with the premiere slated for early 2018.
