One of TV’s greatest shining lights, who also had an amazing career in movies, has passed away at age 63.

Robin-Williams-of-The-Crazy-Ones_gallery_primary“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time,” a statement from his representatives said on EW.com.

It is suspected that the death came from “suicide due to asphyxia” but a more comprehensive investigation is expected.

Williams came into prominence on television with a guest shot as an alien from the planet Ork on Happy Days that led to a full-blown series, Mork and Mindy, which was an instant hit soon plagued by inconsistent scheduling and way too much tinkering. Last year, he returned to TV for The Crazy Ones alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar. The Crazy Ones was not renewed for the upcoming TV season, though it did at least last long enough to have an episode where Williams was reunited with his Mork co-star Pam Dawber.

To celebrate his life, let’s recall some happier times, eh?
