TNT has released the first trailer for upcoming psychological thriller The Alienist.
Based on the Caleb Carr novel of the same name and developed for television by Hossein Amini (Drive), The Alienist takes place in 1896 New York and follows the investigation into a serial killer whose victims have all been underage male prostitutes. The series will use the emerging disciplines of psychology and early forensic investigation techniques in order to chronicle the journey toward catching one of New York’s first serial killers.
Directed by Jakob Verbruggen, The Alienist stars Daniel Bruhl (Rush), Luke Evans (Dracula Untold), Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds), Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker), and Q’orianka Kilcher (The New World). The series joins a growing scripted slate for TNT that includes The Last Ship, Animal Kingdom, Good Behavior, The Librarians, and Major Crimes, as well as upcoming summer series Claws and Will.
The Alienist will premiere later this year on TNT.
