CASTIEL AWAKENS FROM HIS COMATOSE STATE — Meg (guest star Rachel Miner) calls Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) and tells them Castiel (guest star Misha Collins) is awake and talking. Meanwhile, a teenager named Kevin (guest star Osric Chau) gets hit by a bolt of lightening and is turned into a reluctant prophet. Sam and Dean believe Kevin holds the key to defeating the Leviathans but must fight off two Archangels who want him for their own purposes. The episode was written and directed by Ben Edlund (#721).

ok wait color me stupid but i’m not following where the hell we obtained 2 archangels from…last i knew there were 4, then again possibly 5 when cas was “new and improved” after swan song. ok so gabriel has been officially dead since hammer of the gods…unless he isn’t. raphael we watched blown to chunky soup…luci and mikey are holding the cage up….so by my count that leaves a possible one out of the original 4, two if we take a leap and “guess” that cas is turbo juiced to archangel level suddenly again. which doesn’t sound like what they have going on here…so uh yeah…do they just make new ones? and how so if god/chuck/who knows is still missing in action as well? i really hope the episodes make all of my confusion a bit less foggy. hope im not reaching too far with that one.
My guess is the two archangels are Michael and Lucifer. They’re trying to use the prophet to get out of the Cage. In the season 5 episode, “Free To Be You and Me” we learned that abandoned angel vessels have an open link to the angel that once occupied them. That’s how they were able to trap Raphael in that episode by using his vessel. If Sam had a telepathic link to Lucifer open, now Castiel has that link, so Lucifer could be trying to control and manipulate Castiel in order to maneuver the prophet to releasing them.

In most of the religions, there are 7 Archangles are mentioned.. but mostly we have known only 4 and if we go as per the show, 2 Archangles (Gabriel and Raphel) are dead, Michel and Lucifer are in hell (trapped into Lucifer’s cage), now where on earth they got 2 more Archangles… may be they are just Angels, and they mentioned wrong here.. its a possibility..!!
Maybe they are just picking two names from the long list of Archangels? Maybe one of them will be Azrael? or Dumah? or Ramiel?
I am really looking forward to this! I hope Castiel is back full time next season.
Generally there are around seven archangels in mythology, so with any luck we will be meeting two new archangels. Gabriel is dead, we saw it happen and Lucifer’s reaction was one of true sadness (he claims to have taught Gabe all of his tricks, so I doubt Gabe could have tricked him) Raphael exploded, and Michael and Lucifer are in the cage, where there is no way for them to get now that Lilith is dead. So, unless they introduce something completely out in left field, we should meet new characters
There are many archangels – I’ve read about 15 different archangels. The number varies with different cultures and religions.
