CBS has handed out their first new series order for the 2015-2016 season, and of course that privilege goes to a show that will certainly be Super.

Warner Bros. Television’s Supergirl, starring Melissa Benoist, has been officially picked up for the upcoming TV season. CBS will surely be announcing more projects later this week.

As KSiteTV was borne out of KryptonSite, which covered news about the previous Kryptonian television series, Smallville, we have to mention that we have revived the KryptonSite domain for covering Supergirl more in-depth. Check it out here.

Alums from past Superman projects have already signed on to the new series. Glen Winter, who directed the pilot, also directed for Smallville; former Superman Dean Cain will be playing an as-yet-unrevealed role. Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in the 1984 movie, also has a role in the new series.

CBS will announce their 2014-2015 schedule on Wednesday, May 13.
