The CW Riverdale pilot from Greg Berlanti and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, set in the world of Archie Comics characters, has gone to a veteran of 90210 to play Archie Andrews’ father.

No, they didn’t get Matt Lanter…. but they did get Luke Perry, “Dylan” from the original Beverly Hills 90210 series who never managed to make it back for the CW update. The news was broken by Deadline, who describes his version of the character accordingly:

Usually easygoing, Fred Andrews is the owner of a construction firm who is hoping his son, who worked for him all summer, will someday take over the family business.

Perry joins the already-announced Lili Reinhart (Betty) and Cole Sprouse (Jughead). Last week at KSiteTV, we posted some of our choices for Riverdale casting; you can find those choices here.

Riverdale will be shooting in Vancouver next month for a possible inclusion on The CW’s 2016-2017 schedule.
