Are you ready for a Riverdale reboot already? Okay, so this isn’t actually a reboot of the CW series, but a film produced by Netflix India, Tiger Baby, Archie Comics and Graphic India and directed by Zoya Akhtar. Like Riverdale, it’s based on the classic Archie Comics, and this one is called… The Archies!
The Archies, which arrives December 7 on Netflix, is described as “a coming-of-age musical,” which follows the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton. Seen through the lens of the unique Anglo-Indian community, The Archies explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion. (WHAT? No Cheryl Blossom!?!?!)
The cast of The Archies includes Dot as Ethel Muggs (interestingly listed first on the press release). Agastya Nanda is the “charming and talented” Archie Andrews, Khushi Kapoor is Betty Cooper, Mihir Ahuja is the always hungry Jughead Jones, Veronica Lodge is portrayed by Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina is Reggie Mantle, and Yuvraj Menda plays Dilton Doiley.
