Comic book inspired TV shows are how we got our start around here, and whenever a new one is announced, we anxiously await casting announcements.

The Archie-inspired Riverdale from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Afterlife With Archie) and Greg Berlanti (Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Blindspot, The Mysteries of Laura) is currently casting for a hopeful spot on The CW’s Fall 2016 schedule. Unless it’s really, really bad, it’s a safe bet that being a Berlanti show based on a comic will get it a spot, especially considering the successful series that the prolific producer has brought to The CW and elsewhere.

We don’t know a lot about the plot of Riverdale beyond what was said in the casting calls; but of course, we do have some opinions or suggestions on who we would like to see. (The casting announcements of Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones came yesterday.)

So, before MORE announcement comes, here are some picks from KSiteTV. Disclaimer: These people have not been cast; they probably will not be, either… even though Lili Reinhart was on the rough draft of this article written earlier this week. If any of these actors are cast, we also take no credit for it, as a lot of the time, happy accidents happen.

So let’s get started!

Archie Andrews: Cameron Monaghan

There’s a certain thing that is an absolute must when casting Archie Andrews: He must be ginger. I’m totally all right with diversity in casting roles that are known for a while, but I will raise a stink if Archie’s not a redhead.

With that said, there’s only one man for the job, and that’s Cameron Monaghan. Yes, he’s tied to Shameless but he’s not the lead and there are only so many episodes, so he can do it, right? His performance on Gotham this past year got a lot of rave reviews; now imagine him playing someone who is the complete antithesis of Jerome. Make it happen, David Rapaport!
