Hulu has released the first trailer for upcoming comedy Ramy, which premieres Friday, April 19th.
Created by and starring Ramy Youssef (Mr. Robot), with Jerrod Carmichael (The Carmichael Show) executive producing and Bridget Bedard (Transparent) showrunning, Ramy follows first generation Egyptian-American Ramy as he navigates his way through a politically divided New Jersey neighborhood. The series will chronicle Ramy’s attempt at balancing his faith with his status as a millennial.
In addition to Youssef, Ramy stars Mohammed Amer (My Cousin Sister’s Wedding), Hiam Abbass (The Visitor), Amr Waked (Lucy), May Calamawy (Madam Secretary), Dave Merheje (Criminal: Become Vengeance), Laith Nakli (12 Strong), and Steve Way (Projecting).
The series is part of a scripted slate for Hulu that includes The Handmaid’s Tale, Harlots, Marvel’s Runaways, Future Man, All Night, Light as a Feather, PEN15, Castle Rock, Into the Dark, and The Bisexual. It’s one of several shows the streamer will be premiering this spring, including Shrill, The Act, and Catch-22.
