Deadline is reporting that Tell Me a Story‘s Christopher Meyer and Zayne Emory (The Rookie) have joined CW political pilot Maverick.
From Merigan Mulhern (Jane the Virgin), Maverick follows Kit (Reina Hardesty), the daughter of an authoritarian American president who believes her father to be a moral, decent man. However, once she gets outside of the White House bubble, her views are challenged by her peers at Georgetown University, so much so that she begins questioning her loyalty to her family. Will she stay true to her father despite what everyone says or will she join the growing resistance that threatens to take him down?
Meyer will play handsome and effortlessly cool Georgetown freshman Chase, who immediately connects with Kit after having all the same classes. However, he’s hiding some major secrets.
Emory will portray deceptively sweet frat boy Lucas, an old family friend of Kit’s who’s held a torch for her for years.
Maverick is one of four traditional pilots in development at The CW, joining CBS castoff The Republic of Sarah, martial arts saga Kung Fu, and their third attempt at The Lost Boys. The network already gave straight-to-series orders to Superman & Lois and Walker and has backdoor pilots that would spinoff Arrow and The 100 if ordered.
In addition to his role on the CBS All Access anthology, Meyer has appeared on the likes of Mad About You, The Affair, and iZombie, while Emory’s television credits include The Goldbergs, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Runaways.
