Deadline is reporting that Elementary star Lucy Liu has joined a still untitled ABC multi-cam pilot.
From Shanna Goldberg-Meehan (Better With You), the series (fka Bossy and Kids Matter Now) centers on a boss with no patience for working parents until she adopts a child of her own. With her life completely upended, she turns to her mother-of-three assistant for help navigating life as a working mother.
Liu will play Devin, the powerful head of successful furniture company Shelter. Normally a force of nature, someone for whom failure is not an option, she is thrown for a loop when she adopts a baby and realizes just how ill-prepared she is for being a mother.
In addition to her role on the CBS procedural, Liu’s television credits include Why Women Kill, Ally McBeal, and Southland.
The series is one of five pilots ABC has committed to filming once it’s safe to do so. Joining it in getting a promise of production are Rebel, a legal drama based on the life of Erin Brockovich that stars Katey Sagal as a blue-collar legal advocate; family restaurant soap Harlem’s Kitchen, headed by Oscar hopeful Delroy Lindo; Home Economics, a single cam comedy about three siblings of three different socioeconomic statuses; and Work Wife, a comedy based on the relationship between Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.
