MIDSEASON/OTHER THOUGHTS:
SHILO: At the time we’re publishing this, NBC has ordered four new series for next season in addition to Shades of Blue – a Coach revival; Eva Longoria comedy Telenovela; Wizard of Oz-inspired Emerald City; and futuristic dramedy Apocalypse. My guess is that each shows up either at midseason or summer, though co-production Apocalypse could be on in the fall if NBC isn’t happy with its genre/action pilots. Otherwise, I think we’ll see at least one racially-tinged series (drama Love Is a Four-Letter Word, comedy People Are Talking, etc.), a couple of conspiracy dramas (Greg Berlanti’s Blindspot, sniper drama Endgame), and whatever comedies NBC decides fits its identity today.
CRAIG: Considering the talent involved (including Wesley Snipes), I wouldn’t be surprised to see Endgame somewhere, maybe in that Monday slot I earmarked for Blindspot. As you said, NBC can (and will) do just about anything with their midseason schedule, as they’re pretty unpredictable, especially with the notion that Sundays open up once Football is done.
I’d also like to see Night Shift given another chance, but next time, keep it to the summer where it does well.

Mysteries of Laura is low in the live demo, but high in overall viewers. And NBC’s “Woman Crush Wednesday” promotion seems to work. In total viewers, the show is NBC’s best result with in-season regularly-scheduled programming versus all regularly-scheduled competition in the Wednesday 8-9pm hour in more than five years. That counts for something.
