FRIDAY

SHILO: 8:00 Dateline; 9:00 Warrior; 10:00 Grimm
CRAIG: 8:00 Warrior; 9:00 Grimm; 10:00 Dateline

Grimm - Season 4CRAIG: I think Dateline would be a stronger lead-in for the news than any drama would be at this point, so I’m keeping it at 10. At 8, I’d throw in Warrior, which seems to have that epic-building kind of story that would pair well with Grimm. I really wanted to put Constantine on my schedule, but I have to be a realist and admit if it’s probably gone, unless it moves somewhere else.

SHILO: Interestingly enough, we have the same shows on Fridays, only shuffled in a different order. Initially, I thought about plugging in a co-production or a cheap genre drama to go along with Grimm, given that Grimm isn’t capable of launching something at the ratings level it’s at right now. However, with “sure things” like Heroes, Chicago Med, and Neil Patrick Harris on in the fall, I figure NBC could go looking for its next Friday anchor in martial arts drama Warrior, which would get a boost from a broad Dateline lead-in and from being the only genre/action drama in its hour. It’s a distinct enough concept to draw attention and if NBC is going to give a drama like this a shot, it might as well be in the fall, given that they have cheap back-up plans just in case ratings get too dire. But as with most of NBC’s schedule for next season, they could do just about anything on Fridays and I wouldn’t be too awfully surprised.

  1. Mysteries of Laura is low in the live demo, but high in overall viewers. And NBC’s “Woman Crush Wednesday” promotion seems to work. In total viewers, the show is NBC’s best result with in-season regularly-scheduled programming versus all regularly-scheduled competition in the Wednesday 8-9pm hour in more than five years. That counts for something.
