last man standingFURTHER THOUGHTS FROM CRAIG

Most Surprising (Possible) Renewal: I don’t know if Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would qualify as “surprising” as it improves in DVR every week and has been an okay performer on Friday nights. Still, ABC did want to snuff this one out a year ago, so I guess if anything would count as a surprise, this might still be it.

Or… I’ll get really bold and say Last Man Standing. Fans want it back, it’d pair well with Roseanne, there haven’t been any talks of bringing it back, but… you never know. Though a Home Improvement reboot would make a much bigger splash.

Show That Likely Won’t Be Renewed But Should Be: Kevin (Probably) Saves The World. Realistically, it doesn’t have a chance. But it is insane that a show that could have appealed to a family audience like it did was buried on Tuesdays at 10PM. Fridays at 8, Sundays, even Saturdays would have been a better fate for the gospel of Kevin. In a dream world where I am in charge of ABC, reruns would air in the summer and people could discover this really special show.

Possible Scheduling Disaster: TGIT is dead. I understand the desire to possibly keep Station 19 on Thursdays all year. But… maybe this is a good thing, spreading their wings for a wider berth?

There’s also the matter of Tuesdays without Roseanne, if they’re only doing a limited number of episodes every year. Is 13 enough in this case?

Possible Biggest Surprise: Could anything really surprise us as much as the power of Roseanne‘s return? I guess for me the big surprise would be if something else pops hugely.

Safest Bet: Grey’s Anatomy will continue to thrive, even with the departures of some key cast members. Also, considering the success of the live American Idol show this week, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they go live more frequently next season.

Project I’m Rooting For: Get Christie Love. Barely anyone remembers the original series, but that’s okay. Kylie Bunbury deserves a hit, and I think ABC will be able to deliver.
