Netflix has announced that mystery White Lines has been ordered to series.
From Alex Pina (La Casa del Papal), White Lines follows the sister of a missing Manchester DJ whose life is thrown into turmoil when her brother’s body is found 20 years following his disappearance. In order to figure out what exactly happened to him, she heads to his last known whereabouts in Ibiza and soon finds herself submerged in a subculture filled with more darkness and temptation than she knows how to handle.
In addition to his time on the acclaimed Spanish series, which is said to be Netflix’s most popular non-English production, Pina’s writing credits include Locked Up, The Boat, and Bienvenidos al Lolita.
The streamer has also picked up eight-episode limited series Madam C. J. Walker, which is set to star Oscar winner Octavia Spencer.
Based on On Her Own Ground by A’Lelia Bundles, Madam C. J. Walker tells the untold and highly irreverent story of black hair care pioneer and mogul Madam C. J. Walker and how she overcame hostile turn-of-the-century America, epic rivalries, tumultuous marriages and some trifling family to become America’s first black, self-made female millionaire.
Do you think White Lines can become the next big word-of-mouth hit for Netflix? What type of miniseries would you like to see Netflix go after next? Should Netflix produce more biographical content?
