AMC Networks has announced that acclaimed BBC America/AMC thriller Killing Eve has been renewed for a third season.

“We love having this show and the brilliant Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, and Fiona Shaw on our networks,” said Sarah Barnett, President, Entertainment Networks for AMC Networks. “Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell have delivered two addictively entertaining seasons. As we did last year, we’re renewing Killing Eve right out of the gate, now with Suzanne Heathcote as lead writer, as a sign of confidence – we adore this show as much as our fans do. Killing Eve doesn’t do anything in a templated way; we love giving opportunity to three genius women to make their mark.”

From Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Killing Eve follows bored MI:5 office worker Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) as she becomes infatuated with assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer).

The news comes one day after the series premiered its highly anticipated second season. It also comes with the caveat that Killing Eve is pulling a Queen Sugar and changing showrunners every season, thus allowing for more female voices to earn the type of experience they don’t always get. After Waller-Bridge stepped down following season one, Emerald Fennell took over for season two; Fear the Walking Dead‘s Suzanne Heathcote will assume the role in season three.

Killing Eve is an important piece for AMC Networks, which has bent over backwards to promote it and turn it into something more than a critical jewel. Season two will be simulcast across AMC and BBC America, while the season one premiere was recently aired post-The Walking Dead, star Sandra Oh hosted the Golden Globes (where she won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series), and the series has been on Hulu since December. During its first season, it slowly climbed in non-linear measures every week, but it was never terribly strong in L+SD, which will make its season two premiere ratings (to be released tomorrow) interesting.

Killing Eve airs Sundays at 8:00 on AMC and BBC America.
