“Everyone who grew up in this country has played musical chairs, and this is your childhood fantasy of musical chairs on crack,” Jessi explains. “It’s everything that you dreamed your ultimate game of musical chairs would be, but then add a live band, add a seven foot deep moat, add crazy Wipeout-style obstacles, girls pushing guys, guys pushing girls… it’s that,” she says.
“People fall in, people dive in, people get pushed in, not on their own free will… there’s a lot of moat action,” she explains.
The show’s obstacle courses features rotating bridges, extremely cold water, and other physical challenges… it actually looks like a lot of fun, if not a little painful. You won’t be seeing Jessi or her co-star Jamie Kennedy there, though. “We get to sit in the sky box like the newscasters that we are,” she laughs. “We watch all the mayhem and comment on it slash make fun of people doing it.” The show’s “sidelines correspondent” Tanika Ray, who Jessi describes as “the Anderson Cooper of musical chairs-inspired game shows,” doesn’t get such a glamorous job, as she is stuck in the middle of the action.
“I think you’re on to something!” she says. “Like Dancing With The Stars, but Oh Sit With The Stars? You’d have to find some really desperate celebrities. It’s one thing to go on some of these reality shows as celebrities, but to get in a helmet and a onesie, and jump in a pool for a chair? That’s a lot. But if you found the right people, I think they could do it. Jamie has a lot of celebrity contacts, so maybe we could get him to hook us up,” she laughs.
Look for Oh Sit! on The CW tonight, August 15, at 8PM (ET).
