We were able to speak with Britt as well as three of the show’s other leads – Thomas Dekker, Phoebe Tonkin, and Shelley Hennig – about the series, which airs Thursday nights at 9PM (ET) on The CW. Beware there may be spoilers within! Thomas and Phoebe will be posted in the coming days; you can read what Shelley had to say here.

To start our interview, which involved Britt speaking with five of us at one time, the questioning immediately went to the inevitable romance and bond between Britt’s character of Cassie and the taken Adam (Thomas Dekker’s character). How would she pitch Cassie and Adam as the couple to follow?
“They’re the ultimate couple,” she says, pitching them at this point as “the Romeo and Juliet of our time.” “They are meant to be together but they never will, and that’s exciting and intriguing. And they’re cute together!” she exclaims.
However, is there guilt involved for Cassie, considering Adam is in a relationship with Diana? “At this point, there’s so much going on in Cassie’s world, I think the last thing she’s trying to do is interfere in someone’s relationship,” Robertson explains. “And she’s really taken a liking to Diana. Diana has taken her under her wing, and they feel close. They’re friends, and the last thing she wants to do is hurt her friends. I think at this point, she’s just trying to keep the Circle bound, and everyone happy, and making sure that they get done what they need to get done, and they’re a happy circle. A Happy Secret Circle.”
There’s also possibility of other romantic interests coming into the show for Cassie. “I hope so!” she says enthusiastically. “It’s The CW. Hello. We’re not going to just ignore the fact that they’re humans. But I think there will be a few love triangles that aren’t Adam, Cassie, and Diana, and there will definitely be some more romance in the air for my character.” When asked about a new character soon coming into the show, Britt seemed to imply in the affirmative, that something could happen there. “There he is. Ring-a-ding-ding. Chris Zylka – he plays a character named Jake, and he comes into town for a wee bit, and we have a bit of an… interaction, as one might say,” she teases.
In the sequence we saw filming, which Phoebe Tonkin has already revealed on Twitter as being a game of Truth or Dare, there seems to be some alcohol involved. Could there be a bad mixture between alcohol and magic? “I like to say Cassie’s not a drinker, herself,” Britt laughs, “so I don’t know how that will affect her, but it’s definitely not a good combo for Faye. I can say that much.”
Before the Circle can get to Truth or Dare, we’ll all be treated to a special Halloween-themed episode. “It’s kind of kitschy. The thing is, when you have witches and Halloween, it can be fun to make fun of certain things. And what I love about what Kevin and Andrew did, is they weren’t trying to ignore the fact that we’re witches on Halloween. They were like ‘you’re witches, and it’s Halloween. Let’s be honest’,” Britt tells us. She credits Liz Friedlander with pointing out one of the best parts of the holiday. “She was saying the great thing about Halloween is that scary things can happen in the middle of the night, and there’s people roaming the streets, and you can scream with masks on, and nobody really takes notice to it. So that’s kind of the fun element that we get to play with a lot, because it was Halloween,” she explains.
It’s not a Secret Circle interview without asking about fan-favorite character Charles Meade, who is played by Gale Harold. Will he be coming after Cassie? “I think at this point, Charles needs Cassie,” Britt explains. “Charles and Natasha’s character, they brought Cassie back to the town to bind the Circle. They need the Circle to be bound. So I don’t think he has it out for her in particular, but if she starts to make noise, then hmm. She could be off. Let’s see. It is a Kevin Williamson show. People do die.”
And if Cassie could be as naughty as Charles Meade or even Faye, with no inhibitions at all, what would she do? “I think it would be fun to have her to be a little naughty, and have her get Adam to fall in love with her, like have a love spell type situation. I think that would be fun. But, it would cause a lot of drama, and I’m not a big drama kind of girl. But I’m sure there are some multiple options,” Britt says.
