Imposters star Rob Heaps tweeted today that the con artist drama has been passed on by Netflix, thereby ending its chances of returning for a third season.

The decision comes around two weeks since the series was cancelled by Bravo after a steep ratings decline, likely brought about by a modest at best marketing push and a premiere months removed from the NBCU Olympic halo. Imposters had been in contention for another season, though, due to being profitable from streaming/international deals and season one overperforming at Netflix. However, with the first Shonda Rhimes scripted series at Netflix about a con artist and moving a show across platforms hard enough as is, everything didn’t line up perfectly enough for the series to continue.
The cancellation of Imposters comes as Bravo seems to be getting out of the scripted space. Underrated comedy Odd Mom Out was cancelled last year after three seasons, while Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce is set to limp its way into the sunset after five seasons, three of them limited to accommodate creator Marti Noxon’s busy schedule. The network has off-brand true crime anthology Dirty John, which stars Eric Bana and Connie Britton, coming this fall.
