Freeform has announced that Fosters spinoff Good Trouble has been renewed for a second season.

Though its Live + Same Day ratings have tailed off since a decent premiere, last week’s episode of Good Trouble marked Freeform’s top drama telecast since June 2018 among women 18-34 and females 12-34 and ranked as cable’s No. 1 scripted series among females 12-34. The series has also received some of the best reviews of Freeform’s existence, with the acclaim focusing on how Good Trouble handles social issues and the way it captures the turmoil of being in your mid-20s.

Good Trouble follows Fosters characters Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) as they move to Los Angeles to pursue the next phase of their lives. While Callie is clerking for a conservative federal judge she often butts heads with, Mariana goes head first into the male-dominated tech industry and finds herself having to fight to be heard.

In addition to Mitchell and Ramirez, Good Trouble stars Roger Bart (Revenge), Tommy Martinez (Riverdale), Sherry Cola (I Love Dick), and Zuri Adele (Under the Dome).

Joining a scripted slate for Freeform that includes Siren, The Bold Type, and Grown-ishGood Trouble airs Tuesdays at 8:00 on Freeform. You can check out a look at tonight’s episode below.

What have you thought about the show thus far? Are the differences with The Fosters a good way for the show to form its own identity? Or are you missing seeing Callie and Mariana in a show like that?
