AMC has announced that Emmy winner Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife) has joined upcoming drama Dietland in a series regular role. She’ll be playing magazine editor Kitty Montgomery, whose world is thrown into chaos when a feminist terrorist organization starts targeting people in her orbit.
Based on the Sarai Walker novel of the same name and developed for television by Marti Noxon (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce), described as part-character drama, part-revenge fantasy set against the backdrop of the beauty industry. The series, which will be led by Joy Nash (The Mindy Project) as a woman preparing for an impending lap-band surgery, will look to explore society’s obsession with weight loss and body image through a darkly comedic lens.
In addition to her role on the CBS procedural, Margulies has appeared on the likes of ER, Canterbury’s Law, and Nightcap.
The 10-episode first season of Dietland is set to premiere next year on AMC. The series will join a scripted slate for AMC that includes Humans, The Walking Dead, and Into the Badlands.
