HBO Max has apparently made another cut, but this one, at least, is said to have found a new distributor.

The Hollywood Reporter today revealed that the DC Dead Boy Detectives series for HBO Max, from Steve Yockey, Beth Schwartz, Doom Patrol’s Jeremy Carver, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman with a pilot directed by Lee Toland Krieger (Riverdale), will no longer be going to HBO Max but instead has been sold to Netflix after a search for a new distributor. According to the trade, sources said that “the series didn’t fit with the new chapter of content that DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran are building for the comic book powerhouse.”

If this is indeed the direction things are going, this could actually be very good news for Dead Boy Detectives. Netflix was the home for The Sandman last year to great promotion and critical acclaim. Could being on the same streamer mean we could possibly see some kind of crossover, as the characters did first appear in Sandman comics?

In any event, hopefully more updates and confirmation are on the way. You can read THR’s original article here. and if you want some Dead Boy Detectives sooner than that, DC Comics recently has issued a new comic book series, available in comic shops everywhere!
