Just one day after news came that Edgar Wright departed the Ant-Man film, it was revealed that Drew Goddard was out as showrunner of the Marvel/Netflix Daredevil series.

daredevil_1_coverThankfully, The Hollywood Reporter has some good news: Spartacus, Buffy, and Smallville alum Steve DeKnight is “finalizing a deal” to be taking over the reins of the series. THR notes that Goddard will still be involved with the series. You can read the THR article here.

As far as comic book TV goes, DeKnight wrote the popular Smallville episode “Justice” that teamed up the nascent Justice League. Assuming DeKnight is appointed, the show is in good hands.

Daredevil is expected to be the first of the direct-to-Netflix Marvel series.
