The “what, really?” story of 2015 TV has an unhappy ending.

The 13-episode update of Coach starring Craig T. Nelson was supposed to premiere this season, but after shooting a pilot, NBC has decided not to move forward with the project. A pilot has been shot, but the other 12 episodes will not be. The show featured Nelson’s Coach alongside his now-grown son who is now doing some Coaching of his own. Coach 2: Coach Harder!

Deadline says “it is unknown whether the producers try to set up the project elsewhere,” which they say almost every time a show is canceled at this point. Hopefully this pilot will be released at some point, though, because we’re curious how it turned out. Reports say that Nelson will be paid for all 13 episodes regardless.
