Deadline is reporting that upcoming Amazon fantasy drama Carnival Row has rounded out its cast with Salem alum Tamzin Merchant, Indira Varma (Rome), You Me and the Apocalypse‘s Karla Crome, and David Gyasi (Interstellar). Merchant will play Imogen Spurnrose, a manipulative young woman willing to do whatever it takes to turn her struggling family’s fortunes around; Varma is set as regal Piety Breakspear, the matriarch of the Burgue’s powerful ruling family; Crome joins as Tourmaline, a quick-witted faerie love poet driven from her war-torn homeland and forced to work in a brothel; and Gyasi plays Agreus, a wealthy faun unafraid of bucking the established social order.
In addition to her role on the WGN America drama, Merchant has appeared on the likes of Supergirl, The Tudors, and DCI Banks, while Varma’s television credits include Game of Thrones, Human Target, and Luther; Crome has been featured on Under the Dome, Misfits, and Hit & Miss; and Gyasi has been seen in Containment, Troy: Fall of a City, and Chuggington. They all join a cast that features Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) and Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Orlando Bloom.
Carnival Row is set to begin production later this fall for a 2019 premiere on Amazon.
