Deadline is reporting that Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) has joined upcoming fantasy drama Carnival Row. She’ll be playing faerish refugee Vignette Stonemoss, who leaves her homeland searching for sanctuary but finds a place where her kind is rampantly discriminated against and where her secrets lurk.
From Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim) and Rene Echevarria (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Carnival Row is set in a neo-Victorian city filled with mythical creatures that’ve fled their homeland for the peace that the city provides. However, tension between citizens and a flourishing immigrant population eventually spill over into a string of unsolved murders that pushes the Carnival Row police force to their breaking point.
This will be Delevingne’s first series regular television role after beginning her acting career in 2012 and doing mostly films and shorts. Her only prior television credit is an episode of Playhouse Presents from 2014. She joins a cast that includes Orlando Bloom.
Carnival Row is set to begin production this fall in Prague for a 2019 premiere on Amazon.
