Deadline is reporting that USA Network’s Brave New World series adaptation has added Solo: A Star Wars Story alum Alden Ehrenreich.
Based on the seminal sci-fi novel from Aldous Huxley, with David Weiner (Homecoming), Grant Morrison (Happy!), and Brian Taylor (Crank) adapting to series, Brave New World takes place in a seemingly utopian society where monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself have been prohibited by the government. The series follows Bernard Marx and Lenina Crowe as they seek to explore life beyond the rigid social structures that dominate their life through a vacation to the Savage Lands. Once there, they become involved in a violent rebellion that forces John the Savage (Ehrenreich) to rescue them and return them to the New World. Only when they return, John’s arrival brings about repercussions that will awaken them to the dangers of their conditioning.
This will be the first major television role for Ehrenreich. He previously guest starred in episodes of CSI and Supernatural.
There are rumors that Brave New World will move for the second time, this time to NBC Universal’s planned streaming service, set to debut in 2020. Previously in development at Syfy before moving to USA in February, the project is thought to be a potential flagship series for the service, which will premiere following the rollouts of Disney+ and Apple+. More information about what the NBC Universal streaming service is and will include should be made available in the coming months.
