Yesterday at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Freeform President Tom Ascheim interrupted the Beyond panel with an important announcement: The show, which premiered earlier this year, has already been picked up for a second season following some impressive ratings returns.
“Oh my gosh. Wow! I would have to say thank you so much for watching and supporting us,” he said. “We could not have gotten to this place, to be picked up, without the support of these fans and the excitement that they show after watching one, two, or even ten of the episodes, and I can only promise and hope that wow, is there ever more to come. I put all of my faith in the very capable Adam, our creator, as well as our writers, to cook up, yet again, another fantastic season for us to enjoy to shoot, and for us to then show everyone else. I’m as excited as everyone else is.”
A recent press release about Beyond’s ratings revealed that one dedicated viewer binged the entire first season within ten hours after the episodes became available… and yes, Burkely saw that release as well.
“I saw that and I went ‘wow!’ That’s the kind of dedication that we love to see. That’s the passion that we have for the project, and the excitement that we had shooting it… to be able to have someone sit down and go ‘wow. this is the show,’ boom, straight through… that is such dedication, and I thank them. Thanks for supporting us,” he says.
