According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pitch star Kylie Bunbury has landed the lead role in straight-to-series ABC PI drama The Big Sky.
Based on the C.J. Box novel The Highway, with David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) developing for television, The Big Sky follows private investigator Cassie Dewell as she teams up with ex-cop Jenny Hoyt to look into the disappearance of two sisters, said to be kidnapped by a trucker on a remote Montana highway. Once the pair discover that other women have been abducted, as well, they find themselves in a race against time to stop the killer.
Bunbury will play former rodeo rider Cassie, the junior partner of Jenny’s ex Cody at their PI firm.
The Big Sky was the first ABC drama to get a series order for 2020-21. The network has several pilots in contention, including gothic soap The Brides, about the complicated relationship between Dracula’s wives; thirtysomething sequel thirtysomething(else); family restaurant saga Harlem’s Kitchen; plane crash tale Wreckage; and legal drama Rebel, which stars Katey Sagal as an Erin Brockovitch-like figure.
In addition to her role on the FOX baseball drama, Bunbury’s television credits include Twisted, When They See Us, and Tut. She joins a cast that includes Ryan Phillippe, Katheryn Winnick, John Carroll Lynch, Dedee Pfeiffer, and Brian Geraghty.
