Variety is reporting that Chicago PD star Jon Seda has signed on to NBC sinkhole mystery pilot La Brea.
From David Applebaum (The Enemy Within), La Brea centers on a Los Angeles torn apart by the sudden emergence of a massive sinkhole and chronicles the journey of a family separated by the phenomena. With one half finding themselves in an unexplainable primeval world alongside a disparate group of strangers, all four members of the family will have to work that much harder to survive, uncover the reason for the sinkhole, and find a way home. If there even is one.
Seda will play Dr. Benjamin Glass, a former Navy Seal who knows how to take charge.
La Brea is one of six drama pilots in contention at NBC for 2020-21, joining Ordinary Joe, which follows the three parallel lives of its protagonist after he makes a major life choice; Langdon, based on the Dan Brown Angels & Demons novel series; body swapping procedural Echo; space mystery Debris; and At That Age, a family drama following the aftermath of a Black family’s golden child suffering a catastrophic event.
In addition to his role on the NBC cop drama, Seda’s television credits include The Pacific, Treme, and The Closer. He joins a cast that includes Natalie Zea, Michael Raymond-James, Caleb Ruminer, Angel Parker, Catherine Dent, Veronica St. Clair, Jag Bal, and Chike Okonkwo.
