Variety is reporting that NBC drama pilot Langdon has added Manhattan alum Ashley Zukerman.
Based on Dan Brown’s novel The Lost Symbol, with Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie (The Event) adapting for television, Langdon follows Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Zukerman) as he attempts to solve a series of puzzles that will save his kidnapped mentor and thwart a global conspiracy.
Langdon is one of six drama pilots in contention at NBC for 2020-21, joining At That Age, which follows what happens after the golden child of an African-American family suffers a catastrophic event; sinkhole mystery La Brea; Debris, about two agents investigating wreckage from an alien spacecraft; body swapping procedural Echo; and Ordinary Joe, centering on three parallel lives that result when its main character makes a pivotal choice while at a personal crossroads.
In addition to his role on the WGN America drama, Zukerman’s television credits include The Code, Succession, and Designated Survivor. He will next be seen in upcoming FX on Hulu limited series A Teacher, where he’ll star alongside Kate Mara and Nick Robinson.
Would you watch Langdon if NBC orders it to series? How do you think the series will compare to the Dan Brown movies starring Tom Hanks? Where do you think would be the right place to schedule a show like this?
