Variety is reporting that Love Is___ alum Tyrone Marshall Brown has signed on to FOX drama pilot Blood Relative.

Based on James Renner’s article “Beyond the Jungle of Bad: The True Story of Two Women from California Who Are Solving All the Mysteries,” with Chris Levinson (Touch) developing for television, Blood Relative follows genetic genealogist Louise Kelly (Melissa Leo), one of the leaders in utilizing a groundbreaking new tool for crime scene forensics. However, for as brilliant a mind as she might have, all that might be for naught since nobody can stand her.

Brown is set as wiseass homicide detective Brick Doughty, who works alongside John Kelly (Tate Donovan). When he and John run across a tough case, Brick implores John to take everything they’ve got to his sister Louise, even knowing how she can be sometimes.

Blood Relative is one of only four drama pilots in development at FOX for 2020-21. It joins underdog dance ensemble The Big Leap, mob tale The Cleaning Lady, and an untitled series following a substitute teacher who helps her students film a shot-for-shot remake of The Goonies.

In addition to his role on the OWN drama, Brown’s television credits include FBI, Bull, and The Affair.
