Variety is reporting that Hulu limited series Looking for Alaska has added Veep star Timothy Simons and Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us). Simons will play stern The Eagle, who enjoys the power that comes with running Culver Creek and warns Miles against following in his father’s footsteps, while Jones is set as one-lunged Dr. Hyde, a very smart, very compelling History of Religion teacher.
Developed for television by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Dynasty, The Carrie Diaries), Looking for Alaska tells the story of Miles “Pudge” Halter (Charlie Plummer), a teenage boy whose obsession with famous last words belies a life wrapped in the mundane. Upon starting Culver Creek, he meets self-destructive, screwed up Alaska Young (Kristen Froseth), a girl who shakes his world up for the better.
In addition to his role on the HBO comedy, Simons has appeared on the likes of Future Man, Best Friends Forever, and Easy, while Jones’ television credits include Luke Cage, The Get Down, and Mr. Robot.
Looking for Alaska is part of a scripted slate for Hulu that includes The Handmaid’s Tale, Harlots,Marvel’s Runaways, Light as a Feather, PEN15, Shrill, All Night, Future Man, Into the Dark, The Act, Castle Rock, and The Bisexual. The streamer has comedy Ramy and limited series Catch-22 still to premiere this spring, with a Veronica Mars revival, a Marvel animated universe, and Mindy Kaling’s series take on Four Weddings and a Funeral among the shows to come in the near future.
