Paramount Network has announced that Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror) is set to star in upcoming dramedy Emily in Paris.

“Lily possesses unparalleled depth to bring the necessary humor, heart and drama to this exciting role,” said Keith Cox, President of Development and Production for Paramount Network and TV Land. “We can’t wait to get started with her.”

From Darren Star (Younger, Sex and the City), Emily in Paris tells the story of Emily (Collins), a driven twenty-something from the Midwest who moves to Paris for an unexpected job opportunity. The series will follow Emily as she encounters culture clashes at her French marketing firm, tries to adjust to living on the other side of the world, and looks to build a social life in a city where she knows no one.

Primarily a film actress, Collins has television credits that include two episodes of The CW’s 90210 reboot, Amazon’s one-and-done The Last Tycoon, and BBC miniseries Les Miserables.

Emily in Paris joins a scripted slate for Paramount Network that includes Kevin Costner drama Yellowstone. It’s been a tough first year or so for Paramount after rebranding from Spike TV, as American Woman was a non-starter critically and commercially, Heathers was plagued by issues of content and release timing, and Nobodies was moved to Paramount from TV Land before quickly moving back. The network had a First Wives Club series adaptation in development before it also moved, this time to BET, while a planned move for TV Land cornerstone Younger has been nixed.

Production on Emily in Paris begins later this year, with the series to premiere in 2020 on Paramount Network.
