Following its controversial cancellation by FOX, acclaimed cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been picked up for a 13-episode sixth season by NBC, series co-creator Dan Goor revealed on Twitter.

“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”
While the show’s passionate fan base made a lot of noise upon learning of the cancellation, moving networks can be tough for even the most acclaimed of series. Helping matters here is that the series is produced by NBC Universal, so the financials of moving the show to a network it’s already affiliated with aren’t as complicated. Couple that with the show being right on brand for NBC and NBC’s relationship with series co-creator Mike Schur and the network’s comedy slate just grew one size.
The FOX finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs later this month.
