Netflix has given acclaimed docu-series Last Chance U a third season. Season three will explore the junior college football program at Independence Community College, which just had its first winning season in a decade, whereas the first two seasons took place at East Mississippi Community College.
“While we now have the opportunity to head to Kansas, we hope to revisit the people we’ve grown to love over the past two seasons of Last Chance U,” noted director Greg Whiteley. “We are forever grateful to the talented team at East Mississippi Community College who dedicated months of their lives in Scooba and trusted us to tell their incredible stories.”
AMC has renewed acclaimed dramedy Transparent for a fifth season, which will begin production and premiere next year. The show’s upcoming fourth season will premiere September 22nd, days after its acting ensemble contends for multiple Emmys.
“Over the past few seasons the Pfeffermans have gone across the world, back in time and made many, many trips to the deli,” said Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy, Drama and VR, Amazon Studios. “We’re so excited to see what magic Jill and the incredible team bring to this always groundbreaking series in season five.”

CBS has nabbed multi-cam/single cam hybrid comedy History of Them, an interracial romantic comedy narrated by their future daughter using the couple’s present day social media as a guide.
HBO is now developing a television film about black activist Stephanie St. Clair, with Nicole Asher (Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart) brought in to write.
Sony is developing a reboot of 70s series Starsky & Hutch with James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). No network is attached as of yet.
NBC has released more promos for the upcoming revival of Will & Grace.
TNT has released the promo for the season finale of Animal Kingdom. The series has already been renewed for a third go-around, which will premiere next summer.
Netflix has released the trailer for season four of acclaimed comedy BoJack Horseman. The series is set to return September 8th.
