On Thursday, April 25, The CW presents an episode of The Vampire Diaries called “The Originals,” which hopes to serve as a launch for a spin-off starring Joseph Morgan as Klaus. As such, a majority of the episode will probably take place in New Orleans and center around Klaus and his family rather than the drama in Mystic Falls with the Salvatore brothers, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, and poor, normal Matt Donovan.

The Originals will instead focus on Morgan as Klaus, Daniel Gillies as Elijah, and Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley, with new characters including Danielle Campbell as Davina, Charles Michael Davis as Marcel, Callard Harris as Thierry, Daniella Pineda as Sophie, and Leah Pipes as Camille. Claire Holt will appear as Rebekah but we hear her role will actually be bigger in the proposed series than it is in the initial spin-off pilot.

Thanks to Mr. Video, we have some screen captures from the promo trailer for the episode!

Officially released photos from the episode can be found here, and if you want to see the extended promo itself, you can find it here.

  1. I can’t wait for this episode. I hope that all the orginals appear in the spin off. Klaus and his family are what makes The Vampire Diaries interesting to watch. Hopefully Caroline will be some kind of love interest for Klaus in the future. I am addicted to their love hate relationship.
